Located in the heart of the historic red bricked and thatched village of Wherwell deep within the Test Valley and near Andover, our 17th Century former coaching Inn and friendly staff provide customers with comfort, attentive service, excellent food, fine wines and award winning cask ales together with quality country bed and breakfast accommodation. The Inn has five recently refurbished letting rooms, two featuring king size beds, two with twin beds and one family room with a double bed and an additional single bed that can extend to a double as required. Although the rooms are currently not ensuite many of the rooms having washing facilities, there are also two bathrooms and three toilets conveniently located close to all letting rooms. With its river, tributaries and lakes, the Test Valley boasts arguably the best chalk trout fishing in the country. The area has numerous field sports and clay shooting venues and for those wanting space and relaxation of a different form the quiet walks, bridal ways and cycle paths along the Test Way provide exercise, tranquility and breath taking scenery. Just a short distance from the Inn there are places of historical interest such as Stonehenge, The Avebury Ring, Danebury the Iron Age Hill Fort with its commanding views of the valley and the Cathedral cities of Winchester, Salisbury and the towns of Romsey and Stockbridge. The Inn although 400 years old has kept pace with the modern world and has conference facilities with audio visual facilities and wi-fi therefore business people and visitors alike can maintain the option of communication. There are two 18 hole golf courses within 4 miles of the Inn, horse riding stables, tennis courts and river/lake fishing in the village.
